We hopped on a taxi for $3 pp to El Morro, we asked our cab driver to fill us in on the history as we went there and he was a fabulous guide. He offered to take us all over the city all day for $100. San Juan is a short day, the tropical forest was another option that we would do on our own next time.

Tip: Just take the taxi there as it’s all uphill and walk back through the streets of Old San Juan the shops are artistic eclectic and fun as well as touristy.

Tip: This is a very windy location, if you have kite and love to fly kites, bring it. El Morro was built at this location as the trade winds all converge here… can you imagine a better place to fly kites? If you have a national parks pass – bring
